River Kwai Kanchanburi -War Cemetery - Death Railway and Kasae Cave
Explore Kanchanaburi province, this is a town in west Thailand. It’s known for the Death Railway, built
during WWII. The line crosses over the River Khwae Yai via the Death Railway Bridge. Displays at the
JEATH War Museum honor the prisoners of war who died building the bridge. The Thailand–Burma Railway
Centre explores the wider history of the railway. Nearby, thousands of Allied soldiers are buried at the
Kanchanaburi War Cemetery.

Start early with a smooth pick up from Bangkok. Take a comfortable air-conditioned van direct to
Kanchanaburi. First stop Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (Don Rak Cemetery or United Nations Cemetery.
This cemetery was the tomb of Confederate prisoners of war who died during the construction of the Death
Railway. The cemetery grounds are beautiful, lush with well-planted grass and it is reminiscent of the events
of the battle and its consequences. Continue to Death Railway Museum the Thai-Myanmar railway is also
known as the Death Railway. One section of it passes through the Kwai River Bridge. Shows the brutal
history of the railway, which was built by the Japanese in World War II, and the estimated 100,000 Allied
troops died using prisoners of war to build it.
Head to Bridge over the River Kwai. The famous Bridge During WW II, Japan constructed the meter-gauge
railway line from Ban Pong, Thailand to Thanbyuzayat, Burma. The line passing through the scenic Three
Pagodas Pass runs for 250 miles. This is now known as the Death Railway.
Experience to take a train from River Kwai by death railway train. End of the train is at Kasae Cave that we
are stop for lunch at the good restaurant there.
Good time to visit the Krasae Cave, Next to the railway track is Krasae Cave which was once a camp site for
prisoners of war who were brought here to build the “Death Railway”. At present it is a place of worship
with a sitting Buddha statue inside. Head to Bangkok and will arrive at the drop off place around 6-6.30 pm.
